Unveiling Our New Logo & YouTube Channel

April 14th, 2026

A New Chapter Begins!

We are thrilled to unveil the new official logo and youtube channel for The Montreal Mauritian Sanatan Dharma Society! As our community grows and evolves, we wanted a visual identity that reflects both our sacred traditions and our vibrant future in Montreal. This design symbolizes our commitment to Sanatan Dharma, unity, and the timeless values that bring us together.

The logo for The Montreal Mauritian Sanatan Dharma Society incorporates several symbolic elements and a vibrant color palette.

Symbolic ElementsOm Symbol (ॐ): Placed at the very center, the Om is the most sacred syllable in Hinduism, representing the primordial sound of the universe and the ultimate reality.Kalash (Sacred Pot): The golden pot holding the Om symbol is a Kalash, which signifies abundance, wisdom, and the "source of life". It is typically filled with holy water, symbolizing the primordial life-giving principle of the universe.Mango Leaves and Coconut: Atop the Kalash are mango leaves and a coconut. The leaves represent the five senses or elements of nature, while the coconut symbolizes divine consciousness and the human head or mind.Lotus Flower: The entire Kalash rests upon a blooming lotus. In Hindu iconography, the lotus is a powerful metaphor for spiritual purity and transcendence, as it remains untainted even while growing in murky water.Rising Sun: The radiant rays in the background represent the rising sun, a symbol of vitality, self-awareness, and the dawn of spiritual awakening.Ocean Waves: The water at the base refers to the primordial cosmic waters from which creation emerged. It also honors the island nature of Mauritius.National Flags: The flags of Mauritius (left) and Canada (right) represent the dual identity and roots of the community in Montreal while maintaining their cultural heritage.

Use of ColorThe palette is primarily composed of vibrant, sacred hues that carry deep spiritual and national significance:Saffron and Orange: These colors are central to the logo, particularly in the sun and the Kalash. They represent purity, spiritual energy, and sacrifice.Gold and Yellow: Used for the Kalash and sun rays, yellow and gold signify prosperity, knowledge, and healing.Blue: Seen in the ocean waves, blue represents the divine (often associated with Lord Krishna) and the vastness of the cosmos.Pink and Red: The pink of the lotus petals and the red in the flags symbolize love, compassion, and divine beauty.Green: Present in the mango leaves and the Mauritian flag, green stands for new beginnings, growth, and natureYou will start seeing this logo on our upcoming event flyers, official Facebook page, and community announcements.
